First AC local flagged off; in Mumbai; heres all about it
It is being dubbed as country’s first local but equipped with air-conditioned.
The AC train left Borivali station for its maiden journey to Churchgate at 10.30am on Monday.
As expected, the train ride received tremendous response and ran packed with passengers.
The train was flagged off by state education minister Vinod Tawde.
The fare will be a premium 1.2 times the first class ticket.
According to Railway sources, the Western Railway will run six services this week itself.
The three each services are expected to run in UP and Down direction.
The AC train will run on regular basis between Churchgate and Virar stations, with total 12 services including those in peak hours, from January 1 as was informed by Railway officials. >
