Five jawans martyred in Dantewada IED blast; two injured

Yet another major strike from the insurgents in the restive area Dantewada of Chhattisgarh state.

As many as five police personnel were martyred in an IED blast in Dantewada on Sunday morning.

It is said that the jawans were being taken to a road construction site to provide security.

It is said that the vehicle is badly damaged showing the intensity of the blast.

The blast that took place on Cholnar Kirandul route also left two jawans injured.

The jawans are said to be from Chhattisgarh Armed Forces as well as local police.

As many as 11 jawans were in the vehicle when it exploded.

A mild crater is also visible on road due to the impact of the blast.

The blast may have taken place at around 11 am when the jawans were on their way from Cholnar to Kirandul.

The deceased include three jawans from the Chhattisgarh Armed Force and two jawans from Dantewada district police.

There are also reports about gun firing after the IED blast and that the rebels may have been able to steal weapons from the blast site but it could not be confirmed.
