Four arrested in Punjab ahead of IPL Mohali; were looking to inflame communal passions

In yet another major catch, the Punjab Police has arrested four youths, who have allegedly been trained by Pakistan’s ISI and were planning to highlight the Khalistan issue in IPL matches to be held in Mohali.

Police sources said that the these youngsters were looking to inflame the communal passions and were preparing to propagate the ‘Referendum-2020’ on Khalistan by setting buses and liquor vends afire.

They were arrested from Shaheed Bhagat Singh (SBS) Nagar district as they were on their way to set a liquor vend on fire, informed police sources.

It emerged that police have also recovered around ten litres of diesel and some other materials from them.

According to police, the youths were members of a Facebook page ‘Referendum-2020’.

During preliminary interrogation, the youths confessed that they were radicalized by an Indian Deep Kaur alias Kulvir Kaur through the Facebook page.

She introduced them to an ISI agent with a fake Facebook profile (Fateh Singh).

The arrested persons were identified as Manvir Singh, Jaspreet Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, and Randhir. They belonged to Khankhana village of SBS Nagar district.
