Four Indian fishermen from Pudukottai district were detained by Sri Lankan Navy today, when they were fishing near Neduntheevu.
As per information received, Lankan Navy also detained their one fishing boat. Sri Lankan Navy on Thursday apprehended four Indian fishermen when they were fishing near Neduntheevu.
Tamil Nadu fishermen had resumed fishing after 61 days fishing ban for fish species propagation last week.
The second arrest by Lankan Navy in this week has created tension in Tami Nadu fishing hamlets.
Last Monday Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edapady K Palanisamy wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging to intervene and secure the release of 16 fishermen lodged in Lankan jail and 136 fishing boats.
