This Friday, four films hit the theatres namely Pradeep Sarkar’s Helicopter Eela, Abhishek Dogra’s FryDay, Rahi Anil Barve’s Tumbbad and Pushpdeep Bhardwaj’s Jalebi.
However, the collections for all the movies turned out to be pretty low. Govinda and Varun Sharma’s FryDay was the only comedy release of the week but going by the reports, FryDay has had a very weak first day at the box office.
Fryday, directed by Dolly Ki Doli fame Abhishek Dogra stars Govinda, Varun Sharma and Digangana Suryavanshi in lead roles. Although FryDay was scheduled to release on May 11, 2018 but the film’s release got postponed and finally, the film released on October 12, 2018.
In India, the fate of a film is decided on Friday as soon as the film hits the theatres. As much as content, box office figures are equally important to define the success or failure of a film.
In short, the first day box office figure of a film is its turning point and according to Box Office India, FryDay has managed to earn 25 lakhs approximately on its opening day.
As per reports, the opening show occupancy of FryDay was 0-2 percent. Earlier, we contacted Girish Johar (Film & Trade Business Analyst) to talk about FryDay and he told us, “Govinda is coming back after the two films to the big screen. Obviously, his fans would be excited to see him, his impeccable comic timing and along with Varun Sharma I think this combo has a decent awareness level. But, this week is a little crowded with 7 to 8 film releasing on Friday and that includes Hollywood, I feel it has a fair chance of doing Rs 1 to 1.5 crores and rest it will proceed depending on the word of mouth in the evening and over the weekend. At the end, we want all the films to work at the box office.”
Pooor Start to all the new releases on Friday…. #HelicopterEela < 1.25#Tumbbad < 0.50#FryDay < 0.50#Jalebi < 0.50 …. if reviews clearly matter… they should jump NOW.
So its clearly #Andhadhun < 2.50 … despite being in its 2nd wknd

While FryDay has opened to mixed reviews but going by the trailer, the film seems like a laugh riot and for all the Govinda die-hard fans, you will witness the actor at what he does best and that is, comedy. FryDay is produced by Sajid Qureshi and PVR Pictures.
