Gadchiroli encounter; eleven more bodies found

bodies were found on the banks of the river, which flows along the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh borders

In the Gadchiroli encounter where the security forces claimed to have downed at least eleven people, the security forces have recovered at least eleven more bodies of suspected Maoists from the Indravati River.

It need be mentioned that many of the bodies were however bloated and had started to decompose.

The bodies were found on the banks of the river, which flows along the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh borders.

Police now believes that the eleven Maoists may be those who managed to escape to the forests during a gunfight with security forces on Sunday.

They must have succumbed to their injuries later, it is believed by the police.

A high-ranking commander of the Aheri Dalam, identified as Nandu, is among those killed.

Jimlagatta is 60 km from the scene of Sunday’s ambush in which 16 Maoists, including three of their high-ranking commanders and seven women were killed.
