Gadkari meets Nitish Kumar on road projects for state; ahead of national election
With national election barely a year from now, the central government has announced that many of the road projects in Bihar have progressed.
The road projects sanctioned under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special Bihar package have progressed satisfactorily, it was said and work on remaining ones will also commence soon enough.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari who met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that Rs. 55,000 crore worth of 65 such road projects have been approved out of which 36 have taken off so far.
He said that work on the remaining road projects will also start shortly.
Expectations have been high with regard to implementation of the package following Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s return to the BJP-led NDA last year.
Gadkari made the statement after meeting Nitish Kumar along with Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi and other top officials of the state after holding detailed discussions on projects relating to roads and Ganga rejuvenation.
He also talked about the proposed new bridge on the Ganges, parallel to the Vikramshila Setu in Bhagalpur, and speedy repair of the Mahatma Gandhi Setu in Patna.>
