Gadkari urges to spread awareness about Yoga

Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari has urged to make a strong resolve for spreading awareness about Yoga and its benefits amongst the people.

He was speaking at the International Yoga Day celebrations at Yeshwant Stadium in Nagpur on Wednesday.

The Minister said that the people all over the world have come to know about the rich heritage of Yoga therapy. They are enthused and interested in bringing about some changes in their life-style in order to reap benefits and ensure well-being from the strengths of our traditional knowledge. He added, now, it is time for us to respond the call .

Thousands of Nagpurians participated in this programme involving demonstrations of different Yogic Asanas arranged by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation with the help of Janardan Swami Yogabhyasi Mandal and Art of Living along with other institutions promoting Yoga. Guardian Minister of the district Mr. Chandrashekhar Bawankule and Mayor Mrs. Nanda Jichkar were amongst the dignitaries present on this occasion.

Patanjali Group of industries also organized similar programme simultaneously with cooperation of some other institutions at Reshimbag Ground.

Various Government Departments, Air Maintenance Command at Vayusena Nagar and Military Establishments in Kamptee near Nagpur along with the Universities and institutes of higher learning also arranged different kinds of programmes to mark the occasion.

A drama based on life and works of Yogacharya Janardan Swami was also presented later in the day.
