Gandhian groups come out condemning removal of Mahatma’s statue from varsity’s premises

Several Gandhian advocacy groups from South Africa itself have condemned the removal of statue of Gandhi from Ghana varsity.

They have also slammed the allegations of racism against the global icon of peace.

It need be mentioned that the statue removed had been unveiled at the hands of India’s former president Pranab Mukherjee.

It was then celebrated as symbol of ties between the two nations.

It was only recently that the lecturers and student activists began a petition calling for removal of the statue.

They had cited passages written by Gandhi claiming that Indians were “infinitely superior” to black Africans.
