Garib Rath diverted on wrong route; train driver halts after realizing mistake
In yet another major confusion, an assistant station manager (ASM) in Ghaziabad mistakenly routed a Bihar-bound Garibrath Express towards Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh.
The confusion could have sent the passengers to an entirely different destination but for the driver who sensed something amiss and thus chose to stop the train just after leaving the station just to be sure of the route.
It was informed that the 12204 Amritsar-Saharsa Garibrath Express was supposed to go through Moradabad but it seems, the official confused it with the 12506 North East Express (Delhi-Guwahati) and thus put it on a different track route sending it on course to Aligarh.
The Railways notified that the assistant station master of Ghaziabad has been suspended for the error and an investigation is underway in the case.
It was informed that the driver of the train realized that the track route may be different and thus decided to halt then and there.
The train was eventually brought back to Gaziabad. >
