Government has approved construction of over 70 thousand affordable houses for the benefit of urban poor in Uttar Pradesh under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana with an investment of three thousand 528 crore rupees.
Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Ministry today said, of the 70,784 houses approved, over 56 thousand will be constructed under the Affordable Housing in Partnership component and over 13 thousand houses under Beneficiary Led Construction component of PMAY(Urban).
Under the two components, central assistance of one lakh 50 thousand is given to each beneficiary.
The Ministry said, among others Lucknow has got 1,525 houses, Gorakhpur-501, Ayodhya-500, Faizabad-769, Kanpur Dehat- 442, Akbarpur-449, Aliganj-511, Bareily-139 and Azamgarh-119.
The Ministry said, Karnataka has been sanctioned over 56 thousand more affordable houses for 93 cities and towns with an investment of two thousand 950 crore rupees.
It said, for the first time, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has been sanctioned 609 houses for Port Blair with an investment of 54 crore rupees.
With these latest approvals, the total number of affordable houses approved for construction under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has increased to over 20 lakh 95 thousand.
