Govt withdraws land revenue code amendment bill; Congress claims victory
Not wanting to further antagonize the tribal population, the Chhattisgarh government on Thursday decided to withdraw the contentious land revenue code amendment bill.
The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting that was chaired by Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh.
The opposition Congress claimed the decision to be due to its effort on the bill and asserted that the party would continue to strive for the larger interest of tribal people of the state.
The Congress party said that the bill was opposed in its sentiment to the provisions of Indian constitution and thus deserved to be withdrawn.
State Government’s outgoing Chief Secretary and newly-appointed Chairman of Real Estate Regulation Authority Mr. Vivek Dhand and New Chief Secretary Mr. Ajay Singh paid courtesy call on Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh at his residence office. Chief Minister congratulated both the senior officials for taking up new responsibilities. >
