Guest lecture on “Prefabricated Steel Structures” at OPJU

Raigarh : Now-a-days most widely used form of prefabrication in building and civil engineering is the use of prefabricated concrete and prefabricated steel sections in structures. Prefabricated steel and glass sections are widely used for the exterior of large buildings. They are ideal choice for constructing buildings and offer innumerable benefits when compared to any other construction method. The importance of Prefabricated Steel Structures is increasing day by day and to make the Civil Engineering students aware of it, the Department of Civil Engineering, School of Engineering, OP Jindal University, organized a Guest Lecture on “Prefabricated Steel Structures” on 19th September 2018 at OPJU campus.

Mr. Arvind Tagai, Production Head, Structural steel Division, Punjipathra delivered the lecture as resource person. In his lecture he said, “Prefabricated Steel Structures are an extremely important resource for the construction industry and they are used in industries such as manufacturing, oil and gas, packaging, automotive, shipbuilding, transport and mining. They are easy to assemble on the construction site and complete the construction projects faster.” During lecture, Mr Tagai discussed about Importance, Designing, Durability, Affordability, Constructability of Prefabricated Steel Structures. The lecture was very interactive and all the students and faculty members participated enthusiastically in the discussion.

At the end, co-ordinator of the programme Prof. Vinod Nagpure proposed vote of thanks to the guest, Dr P. S. Bokare, Dean, School of Engineering, faculty members and participants for their valuable co-operation.
