incident is said to have taken place in Gujarat's Bhavnagar district

In a shocking crime that exposes the underlying casteist mindsets still prevalent, police have detained three people after a 21-year-old Dalit man was allegedly killed for riding a horse.

The incident is said to have taken place in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district.

Police said that the deceased has been identified as Pradeep Rathod.

It is now said that he had earlier been threatened by some of his co-villagers to not ride the horse.

The victim’s father is said to have told the police that Pradeep intended to sell off the horse but that he prevented it.
