In a major development, a Guwahati-bound IndiGo aircraft made an emergency landing within a few minutes of take-off.
The landing was forced after smoke was detected from the plane’s cargo hold, as per media reports.
The plane at the time had 76 passengers on board.
As per a statement from Airports Authority of India, the aircraft made a safe landing at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport here around 8. 30 pm.
This was done 15 minutes after take-off, confirmed the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
The pilot had informed the air traffic control (ATC) soon after the smoke alarm went off in the cockpit, it was said.>
