In a major development in the BJP in Andhra Pradesh, senior BJP leader and Visakhapatnam MP K Hari Babu resigned from the post of state unit president.
While he did sent his resignation letter to BJP national president Amit Shah, it is speculated that the resignation may have been in the offing.
This development is being seen in wake of its split with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
It need be mentioned that BJP itself is wanting to make inroads in Andhra Pradesh after TDP went on its own way.
Meanwhile, it is now being speculated that MLC Somu Veeraraju, MLA and former minister P Manikyala Rao and former Congress leader Kanna Lakshminarayana are the frontrunners for the post of the state unit chief.
However, it is said that Hari Babu could be given another significant post at the Centre, sources said.
With the TDP breaking away from the NDA alliance, the BJP has decided to utilise those leaders who defected from the Congress and joined the party after the bifurcation of the state in 2014. The plan is to go aggressive against the ruling TDP in the state.>
