Haryana stepping up to ensure improved sex ratio, heres more

Continuing the sex ratio of 2017 under the National Programme of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, Haryana has maintained the same figure in 2018 according to which the sex ratio is 914 girls per 1,000 boys.

While giving this information today, Nodal Officer, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP), Dr. Rakesh Gupta said that the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi had launched the BBBP from Panipat on January 22, 2015, which has started yielding positive results.

He said that under this Programme, there has been significant improvement in sex ratio in Haryana.

He said that after launch of the Programme, a Special Secretariat was established following the orders of the Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal and concrete steps were taken for the success of the Programme.

Under these steps, the PC-PNDT Act and MTP Act were implemented strictly and about 650 FIRs were got registered against those found guilty.

Dr. Gupta said that keeping in view the improvement in sex ratio, joint raids were conducted in neighbouring states under PC-PNDT Act and MTP Act
and violators were arrested. He said that these raids were conducted in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Punjab and Uttarakhand. He said that these raids have led to awareness among people.

He said that for the success of this Programme, he himself monitored the programme and issued necessary directions to Deputy Commissioners, who are also Nodal Officers of the Programme, through video conferencing.

He said that in 2012 the sex ratio of Haryana was 832 whereas in 2018, it has reached to 914. At present, the sex ratio of 17 districts of the state is more than 900 whereas it is between 875 and 900 in four districts, he added
