Heavy downpour has lashed out in Bengaluru and the city residents appear to have no respite from the woes due to rains. The rain related incidents caused death of five people in separate incidents.
Heavy rain began on Friday evening causing severe water logging in west and south western parts of the city. The obvious next casualty was the traffic. There was also a video going around on social media wherein a woman is shown stuck inside the car trapped on a waterlogged road. Thenkfully, she was rescued by a group of people. It was when the frontal portion of the car began to float that the woman shouted for help and bystanders noticed and came to help. Four people jumped into the water and rescued the woman. The incident reportedly took place near the Nayandahalli Circle on Mysuru road on Friday night. Even as this was happening, a few kilometres from there, a priest, Vasudev Bhat, was washed away in a storm water drain during the rain. The incident took place in Kurubrahalli area of the city. After a long search, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and emergency service personnel recovered the body from the drain this morning. In another case, a woman and her daughter, Ningamma and Pushpa, are also missing from last evening and the residents suspect they might have been washed away in a nearby drain in Kurubrahalli.
