villagers are keeping a close watch on the movement of these elephants and they are now seen near village Gullu village

Villagers near Arang, close to Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur are apprehensive lot these days.

This is because there is herd of 18 elephants roaming about in these areas openly.

It is said that the 18 elephants’ herd includes 4 adult male and 9 female.

The villagers are keeping a close watch on the movement of these elephants and they are now seen near village Gullu village.

The Gullu village is around 10 kms from capital Raipur which makes it a scary proposition.

Some of the villagers spoke of how the elephants’ herd has caused damage to the crops of theirs but they have not been able to do anything about it.

The people, in a bid to save their lives, apparently lighted up fire to scare the herd away.

The state forest department needs to intervene before things go awry.
