In a remarkable statement that vindicates India’s stance on Kashmir issue, the United Nations chief Antonio Guterres has ruled out any mediation unless both parties agree to it.

It need be mentioned that India has always termed the issue to be bilateral and not requiring third party mediation.

The UN Chief said that that India and Pakistan need to address their outstanding issues through talks amidst heightened tensions along the border.

According to media reports, the UN Secretary-General’s spokesman Stephane Dujarric said that in principle good offices of the UN chief are always available for mediation but everyone needs to agree on involving the world body.

India is opposed to any third-party intervention in resolving the Kashmir issue while Pakistan has continuously sought mediation to sort out the differences.
