The High Commission of India in Bangladesh will resume visa operations from Wednesday, 11 August as the lockdown restrictions in the country are relaxed.
The High Commission of India in Bangladesh announced in a social media post on Tuesday that the Indian Visa Application Centres (IVAC) will resume operation and the applicants don’t need to take any appointment or permission to apply for a Visa at IVAC. It said that all applications except for tourist visas are being accepted.
The visa operations in Bangladesh have remained suspended since July 1 in view of the COVID 19 lockdown announced by the government of Bangladesh. However, applications for emergency travel were being considered even during the period when the normal visa application process was suspended.
Bangladesh sends the largest number of foreign tourists to India. Prior to the COVID pandemic, in the year 2019, more than 16 lakh visas were issued by the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh.
