A longstanding demand of the Hindus and Sikhs may finally be fulfilled in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region of Pakistan.
The two minorities were forced to bury their dead due to lack of cremation ground allocated to them.
But the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has given sanction to and started building the facility from the chief minister’s fund.
The chief minister has approved funds for the annual development programme for cremation grounds and the facility is likely to come up in Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Hangu, Nowshera and Peshawar areas.
According to estimates, roughly 50,000 Sikhs and Hindus in Peshawar suffer because of lack of proper cremation place and are unable to perform the last rituals of the dead and are forced to bury them. >
