Housefull 4 has turned out to be the perfect Diwali bonanza for Akshay Kumar’s fans. The film, which opened at Rs 19.08 crore on Friday, has crossed the Rs 50-crore mark in three days of its release. Farhad Samji’s directorial venture is creating fireworks at the box office, and the film is doing good business at the ticket windows.
Housefull 4, a reincarnation comedy, made Rs 37.89 crore in two days. And Diwali collection was decent enough despite the festivities.
According to early estimates, Housefull 4 made Rs 15 crore (approx) on Sunday, thus taking the opening weekend collection to Rs 52.89 crore (approx).
Despite two other releases, Saand Ki Aankh and Made In China, it is Housefull 4 that has been able to translate the hype into box office numbers.
After Kesari and Mission Mangal, Housefull 4 is Akshay’s third big release of 2019. With the last two being big hits, the same is expected from his recent release.
Directed by Farhad Samji, the film also stars Riteish Deshmukh, Kriti Sanon, Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde and Kriti Kharbanda.
While the film is doing good business at the box office, Housefull 4 has been panned by critics. Though the last three instalments in the franchise weren’t any gems but Housefull 4 is being called the worst of the lot.
Nairita Mukhejee of IndiaToday.in slammed the film for its confusing plot and bad humour. She wrote, “The screenplay of Housefull 4 is so confusing that Da Vinci Code will seem simpler in comparison. The extravagant sets appear to be a product of below-par CGI. The flamboyant costumes are worse.”
Despite bad reviews, Housefull 4 has already crossed the Rs 50-crore mark in three days. However, Monday would be the real litmus test for this reincarnation comedy.
