Be it filing of income tax return (ITR), applying for a PAN card, operating a bank account or investing in a savings scheme such as NSC (National Savings Certificate or PPF (Public Provident Fund) – a deadline of December 31, 2017 has been set by the government for quoting of Aadhaar in each case.
Aadhaar number or Unique Identity Number is based on your biometric data – collected through fingerprint and iris scans. Recently, the deadline for obtaining Aadhaar card to avail government schemes and subsidies was extended by three months to December 31, 2017.
This deadline extension is, however, only for those who are yet to apply for Aadhaar, according to an order issued by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
