In poll bound Rajasthan, a BJP worker was brutally killed allegedly by bike-borne men.
Police sources said that the attack took place in the day when the man, identified as Samrath Kumawat, was standing on the roadside.
Police have ascertained that three to four men on a bike first shot at the party worker.
Then they chopped off his neck with a sword, the police said.
The murder took place in a village just four kilometers from the town of Pratapgarh in southern Rajasthan.
It is said that Kumawat died on the spot even though people rushed to his rescue.
The group of men were able to make their escape.
Locals sat in protest with Mr Kumawat’s body and demanded the arrest of the attackers at the earliest.
With the attack taking place before the elections, there is also widespread anger in the BJP.
Police have assured that action will be taken soon and that the attackers will be arrested.
Congress leader Ashok Gehlot condemned the murder.
“I condemn the brutal killing of BJP’s Sh. Samrath Kumawat in #Pratapgarh, #Rajasthan. Perpetrators of such heinous crime must be severely punished. Pathetic condition of Law n order in state is a matter of grave concern,” he tweeted.>
