India, beat Sri Lanka by five wickets in the third and final Twenty20 cricket International to wrap up the series 3-0 in Mumbai last night. Sri Lankan hopes to end the miserable tour on a high were raised when India struggled in a 136-run chase but eventually, the hosts crossed the finish line with four balls to spare.
Chasing a modest 136 run, India’s middle-order was finally put to some test but the hosts reached the target with five wickets in hand to end their extended home season on a high.
India lost their openers early – Rohit Sharma for 27 and KL Rahul for 4 – but Shreyas Iyer (30) and Manish Pandey (32) brought them back on track with a sturdy 42-run stand for the third wicket.
Earlier, the hosts restricted Sri Lanka to a modest 135 after Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to field.>
