NEW DELHI: India on Wednesday registered its highest single-day recovery from Covid-19 with 28,472 people recovering from the infection in a day, even as 37,724 new cases were added in past 24 hours pushing the total tally to nearly 12 lakh confirmed cases on Wednesday.
According to health ministry, of the total 11,92,915 cases, 4,11,133 were active, with the total number of patients that have recovered so far standing at 7,53,049. The recovery rate stood at 63.13%. Thedeath toll rose to 28,732 with 648 fatalities reported in the past 24 hours.
While the national recovery rate has improved, 19 states and UTs have posted a recovery rate higher than the national average.
Delhi tops the list with 84.-83% recovery and all northern states are in the list, including Ladakh 84.31%, which has the second-best recovery after Delhi; Haryana 76.29%; Chandigarh 68.97%, Punjab 67.86% and Himachal 64.72%.
