Already established as space power, India did it once again as it launched successfully country’s most powerful, home-made communications satellite till date.
The launch was from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.
Christened GSAT-6A, the satellite was launched on board the heavyweight GSLV rocket
The 2066-kg satellite, which cost around Rs. 270 crore, will be able to send and receive signals from hand-held devices and is most likely to boost secure communications between armed forces personnel in the remotest part of the country.
The rocket also tested a new engine and it will eventually be used for India’s Moon mission, possible later this year.
