India joined in league of nations to reject Trump’s move; heres more on it
India joined in the league of nations that rejected the US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
The decision came about as the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted a resolution rejecting the move in a special session.
It need be mentioned that United States was closely monitoring the situation as the world body voted with a sweeping majority seeking a “reversal” of Trump’s decision. While 128 voted in favour, 9 voted against, and 35 abstained.
India voted in favour of the resolution standing firmly with Palestine, despite immense pressure from allies including US and Israel.
Nikki Haley, the US representative to the UN, threatened countries who voted against the Trump administration’s decision during a debate – in no uncertain terms.
srael’s permanent representative to the UN said that this resolution, like the past ones, would end up in the “trash bin of history”. >
