Indian architect Balkrishna Doshi bags Pritzker Prize; vows to campaign for housing for poor

It is said to be the Noble prize in the field of architecture and this time Pritzker Prize has been bagged by well known architect Balkrishna Doshi.

Doshi has vowed to use this award to intensify campaign for proper housing for the poor.

The architect well in his nineties said that he had no plans of slowing down.

He is often referred to as the pioneer of the low cost housing and said that as an architect, he should be able to provide for common people.

About Doshi himself, he has trained with Swiss-Franco icon Le Corbusier and became known for the Aranya Low Cost Housing project.

The project accommodates 80,000 people with houses and courtyards linked by a maze of pathways in the city of Indore.
