Indian origin man now a designated global terrorist; heres more
In a matter that should be of concern to the India, an Indian-origin Islamic State militant from Britain has been designated as a global terrorist by the United States.
Identified as Siddhartha Dhar, he along with a Belgian-Moroccan citizen Abdelatif Gaini, was designated as a global terrorist by the State Department on Tuesday.
The news was confirmed by the US State Department. According to information that is available, Dhar is a British Hindu who converted to Islam and now goes by the name Abu Rumaysah. He had skipped police bail in the UK to travel to Syria with his wife and young children in 2014.
According to another report, a Yazidi teenager held as a sex slave by ISIS— has been quoted as saying that she was kidnapped and trafficked by Dhar, who at the time was in Mosul.
It need be mentioned that Mosul had once been a stronghold of the ISIS faction of militants.
Some of the reports mention him to have risen through ranks to become a senior commander of the militia.>
