Tatkal train tickets can be booked easily as compared to the booking process of normal e-tickets from the website.
According to IRCTC, users are required to click on the type of class available in the selected train to select the train from the train list.
The seat availability and fare of a train can be checked while booking train tickets.
A customer can click on the “check availability & fare” tab to see the fare according to the type of class selected.
Senior citizen concession, ladies quota, general quota or any other concession is not allowed in tatkal quota.

According to the prescribed guidelines by the IRCTC, a user is required to pay an additional charge of Rs 10 to Rs 15 for booking the tatkal train tickets for second class, Rs 90 to Rs 175 for sleeper class (SL) and Rs 100 to Rs 200 for AC chair car.
The charges levied (tatkal train ticket booking charges) on the tatkal train tickets booked under AC 3 tier, AC 2 tier and executive class are slightly higher.
A customer willing to book AC 3 tier train tickets under tatkal quota is required to pay Rs 250 to Rs 350 as an additional charge, while the extra charges escalate to Rs 300 to Rs 400 for AC 2 tier tatkal train tickets and executive class, respectively.
