An infant is among the nine people who were killed in Pakistani shelling in Jammu, Kathua and Samba districts over last week.
Reports are also of injuries to over fifty civilians in the mortar shelling from Pakistani side.
These districts, it may be known, fall along the International Border.
The firing from the Pakistani side continues as the Border Security Force too is retaliating heavily.
Meanwhile, with no respite in sight, hundreds of villagers from close to the border have escaped for safer locations.
They are moving in the relief camps set up by the government even as the educational institutions in the areas remained closed.
They added that the firing from across the border was intense as 80 mm and 120 mm mortar shells hit dozens of villages.
Despite the shelling, emergency services personnel have reached the villages along the International Border in Jammu, the officials said.
