Inland Vessels Bill, 2021 introduced in Lok Sabha today

It replaces the Inland Vessels Act, 1917. A key feature of the bill is a unified law for the entire country, instead of separate rules framed by the states.

The Inland Vessels Bill, 2021 was introduced in the Lok Sabha today amid noisy scenes. Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal introduced the bill.

It replaces the Inland Vessels Act, 1917. A key feature of the bill is a unified law for the entire country, instead of separate rules framed by the states.

The bill provides for a central database for recording the details of vessel, vessel registration, crew on an electronic portal.

Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt introduced the Essential Defence Services Bill, 2021 in the Lok Sabha.

It will replace the Essential Defence Services Ordinance, 2021 which was promulgated last month.

The bill provides for the maintenance of Essential Defence Services so as to secure the security of the nation and the life and property of public at large and for matters connected therewith.
