International Yoga Day being celebrated across Delhi

New Delhi: The 3rd International Yoga Day is being celebrated across the national capital in a big way.

The main event was organised at Connaught Place of the city where Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu, Sports Minister Vijay Goel, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other dignitaries performed various postures of Yoga with the people.

The participants in the mass performance of Common Yoga Protocol, on the occasion of the 3rd International Day of Yoga – 2017, organised by the M/o AYUSH and NDMC with support of Art of Living, at Red Fort, Delhi on June 21, 2017.

Speaking on the occasion, Naidu said Yoga is the traditional art of India which brings peace and keeps a person healthy. He said, yoga is beyond politics and religion.

National Democratic Alliance (NDA) President Nominee Ram Nath Kovind alos performed yoga in the national capital. Yoga programmes were also held at other places in Delhi.

The Union Minister for Urban Development, Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation and Information & Broadcasting, M. Venkaiah Naidu with the participants, on the occasion of the 3rd International Day of Yoga – 2017, at Nirman Bhavan, in New Delhi on June 21, 2017.

Besides, Connaught Place, people thronged in large numbers at places including Nehru Park, Talkatora Garden and Lodhi Garden and Dwarka to perform yoga.Diplomats of various countries took part in the yoga programme at Nehru Park.

Volunteers form various organisations including NDMC, Delhi Police, and paramilitary forces also performed yoga on the occasion.

Early morning showers made the city weather more pleasant favoring the people in performing yogasanas.
