Is there really a need for streetlights during the day ?

Many Indian villages as we are already aware lack access to power and electricity. But is it justified that amidst all the power shortage in the country and even remote areas of the state , streetlights be left on during day hours when there is ample light for traffic and navigation.

Electricity is perhaps the most used energy source and needs to be used judiciously. These incidents prove that instead of going one step ahead in our goal of sustainable development, we are perhaps coming one step backwards.
