Patna: JD(U) has decided to support NDA Presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind. The decision was taken at a core committee of the party at the residence of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna Wednesday afternoon.
Emerging from the meeting, party convenor and MLA Ratnesh Sada told media persons that the party has unanimously taken the decision to support Mr. Kovind.
As per reports, Nitish Kumar individually met core leaders to listen to their views as to whether the party should support Ram Nath Kovind or not. Sources said that most of the leaders expressed their support to Ram Nath Kovind saying he has a clean image.
Reacting to JD(U)’s decision to support Ram Nath Kovind for President’s post, RJD, has said that it is not mandatory for the alliance partner to take a similar stand. Party spokesperson Manoj Jha, however, said that the JD(U)’s decision will have no impact on the Nitish Kumar-led grand alliance government in Bihar.
