Vinod Verma Arrested On Charges Of Extortion

Journalist Vinod Verma Arrested On Charges Of Extortion who was working on an investigation against a minister in the Chhattisgarh government.

A senior journalist believed to be planning a sting operation against the Chhattisgarh government was arrested at 3.30 am on Friday from his home in Ghaziabad near Delhi on charges of extortion.

Vinod Verma was picked up for questioning from his Ghaziabad home and later charged and arrested by a police team from Raipur.

The police also seized around 300 CDs and a pen drive from his home.

Mr Verma, a freelance journalist, was Digital Editor at Amar Ujala and also worked with the BBC. Reports suggest he was working on an investigation against a minister in the Chhattisgarh government.
