Kamal Hassan happy; Shah Rukh Khan gets ‘Hey Ram’ hindi remake rights

Kamal Hassan noted that Shah Rukh had received a wristwatch for acting in that film

A popular and yet controversial film at the time, Hey Ram may have been released back in year 2000 but it is now being said that actor Shah Rukh Khan has bagged the hind remake rights of the movie.

It need be recalled that the film starring likes of Kamal Haasan himself and Shah Rukh Khan was then selected to be official Indian nominee for the Oscars.

Kamal Hassan noted that Shah Rukh had received a wristwatch for acting in that film at the time.

Hassan, now a politician, said that he is happy that Shah Rukh Khan bagged the Hindi rights of Hey Ram.

Hey Ram was written, directed and co-produced by Kamal Haasan.

It had a stellar star cast including Rani Mukherjee, Vasundara, Hema Malini, Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, Atul Kulkarni, Vikram Gokhale and Nasser.

Traversing through the times of Partition, Hey Ram is a historical-fictional account of the several incidents that happened after partition leading to the death of Mahatma Gandhi.
