Kanye West, has sparked intense reactions among celebrities fans & political figures over his meeting with Donald Trump at the White House.
The rapper appeared with the US president in front of members of the press, where he claimed Trump was a “father figure” to him and wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat made him feel like “Superman”.
Fellow rapper TI had one of the most intense reactions to the meeting, and unleashed a lengthy Instagram post where he branded it the “most repulsive, disgraceful, embarrassing act of desperation & auctioning off of one’s soul to gain power I’ve ever seen”.
“This s**t is next level, futuristic Sambo, Hopping Bob, Stephen off Django [Unchained] ass s**t… [Kanye is] ass kissing and boot licking on a whole new level,” he said.
“If you listen closely you can hear the tears of our ancestors hit the floor… I’ve reached my limits. This is my stop, I’m officially done.”
Actor George Takei followed suit, tweeting: “Just when you think we can’t sink any lower, Kanye West is in the Oval Office talking to reporters. By the way, Mr Trump, there was a really bad hurricane.”
Comedian Frankie Boyle commented: “A few years ago Kanye visiting Donald Trump in the Oval Office to show him designs of a hydrogen powered plane would have been a suggestion shouted out at an improv night. So maybe we should keep an open mind about how much worse things can get in the next few years.”
Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose said the encounter was “a joke… not gonna solve anything in Chicago or anywhere with that sort of attention seeking nonsense”.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Chelsea Peretti called the meeting “hell on Earth”.
Trump himself called the meeting, where West launched an expletive-filled rant that touched on everything from prison reform to mental health, “quite something”.
Asked if he saw West as a potential presidential candidate, Trump said he “could very well be”, while West added “only after 2024”, referring to the end of a potential second White House term for Trump.
Before leaving the Oval Office for lunch, West hugged Trump and said: “I love this man.”>
