Kashmiri Pandits organise Jhanki Yatra on Krishna Janamashtami

The Jhankis passed through various markets of Handwara town in which the local muslim brethren also participated, showered flower petals on the Jhankis and provided every assistance in the smooth conduct of Jhanki yatra by Kashmiri Pandit community.

In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, scores of Kashmiri Pandits in Handwara of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district organised Jhanki Yatra on the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janamashtami.

The Jhankis passed through various markets of Handwara town in which the local muslim brethren also participated, showered flower petals on the Jhankis and provided every assistance in the smooth conduct of Jhanki yatra by Kashmiri Pandit community.

The celebration of the Krishna Janamashtami with religious fervour and gaiety has been reported from other parts across the Kashmir Valley today including Surya Temple at Martand in Anantnag district and at Vessu in Qazigund area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
