Another protest against the Kathua gangrape incident was being held in Mysuru on Friday but it went violent.

The situation went out of control and the police had to resort to lathicharge to bring diffuse the situation.

Police said the protesters suddenly began trying to forcefully shut shops and resorted to pelting of stones as police tried to intervene.

It was then that the lathicharge decision was taken.

The protest was in Kyathamaranahalli area at the time.

He said police would make arrests and added that prohibitory orders had been imposed for 48 hours in the area.
