Determined to forge a third front prior to the national election of 2019, the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is in national capital meeting leaders of different parties.
She on Tuesday met NCP President Sharad Pawar and also is slated to meet dissident BJP leaders like Shatrughan Sinha and Yashwant Sinha along with Arun Shourie.
On the question of meeting former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, Mamata said that she would meet her once her health improves.
It need be mentioned that Congress wants Rahul Gandhi to be projected as leader of the anti-BJP alliance but the West Bengal leader is said to have reservations on leadership of Rahul Gandhi even though she has cordial relations with Sonia Gandhi.
On the question of Mayawati-Akhilesh coming together for the third front, Mamata said that she would very much like the two leaders to host the meeting of third front parties in Lucknow itself.
She also met Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MP K. Kavitha, daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.>
