With the summer fast peaking, the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has written to the Haryana counterpart for water supply to be maintained as has been for past years.
Kejriwal has also written to the Lt. Governor Anil Baijal in this regard.
Kejriwal is said to have urged the Lt Governor to persuade Haryana to continue maintaining water supply to Delhi.
The backdrop is that Haryana has for the first time contested the claims of Delhi to receive 1133 cusecs water.
The Delhi government said that the Supreme Court has directed Haryana to maintain status quo till May 21 and added that if Haryana reduces water supply after that, it could lead to water shortage in Delhi.
Kejriwal also requested the Lt. Governor to take up the matter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Water Resources Minister.>
