Dubai: Indian captain Virat Kohli, has left behind West Indies legend Brian Lara in the all-time list of Test batsmen by scoring 12 points from the third Test against South Africa in Johannesburg.
Virat, the best cricketer of the year 2017, started the third and final Test from 900 points. He scored 54 and 41 runs in the first and second innings of the third Test and scored 12 points, which now has 912 points and he is 26th in the all time list. Don Bradman topped the list with 961 points. Virat is currently second in the ICC Test rankings. He was the only batsman in the India-South Africa Test series to score a hundred.
Virat has jumped from the 31st to the 26th position. They left behind Lara (911), Kevin Pietersen (909), Hashim Amla (900), Shivnarine Chanderpaul (901) and Michael Clarke (900). The Indian captain is now close to compatriot and ICC Cricket Hall of Fame Sunil Gavaskar, who scored 916 points after England’s The Oval Test in 1979. Australia captain Steven Smith, currently ranked number one in the all-time list, is at number two in the all time list with 947 points. Other batsmen who have improved the rankings from the Johannesburg Test include Amla, Dean Elgar and Ajinkya Rahane.>
