Korba Collector issues appeal for mass participation in fight against measles

Thus, the vaccination initiative to tackle this menace is to be started with the assistance of state and national health departments from August 6

With the concern on rising death of infants across the country due to menace of measles and rubella, a program has been initiated from August 6 to curb the outbreak.

It is in this context that the Korba Collector Mohammed Abdul Quisar Huq spoke briefly on how the program will be implemented in his district.

It was informed that on an annual basis, around 50,000 infants die in the country due to measles and rubella.

Thus, the vaccination initiative to tackle this menace is to be started with the assistance of state and national health departments from August 6.

It was informed that all government, private and anganbadi institutions in Korba will be implementing this crucial health program.

The health program is primarily meant for the age group of kids from nine months and 15 yrs.

Around 3,50,000 kids will be vaccinated in the district for the same .

The Collector said that the program will continue for duration of forty days in Korba district.
