Maha govt to allow electric vehicles in tiger reserves, for this reason

vehicles will be mostly used by tourists visiting the area

In a significant decision, the Maharashtra government has now allowed only electric vehicles inside tiger reserves.

The decision is aimed at curbing the pollution levels in the state and reserves as well.

The vehicles will be mostly used by tourists visiting the area.

The electric vehicles would require to be approved by the regional transport office.

The government also decided to give a 50% concession in entry fee to put a check on vehicles run on petrol and diesel, as per sources.

The government hoped that policy would promote the Maharashtra Electric Vehicle policy 2018 and environment-friendly tourism.

It is also aimed to make the state competitive in production of electric vehicles and its parts at the global level.
