Major markets remain shut as protest against sealing drive

They participated in a mega rally as they are alleging it to be an attack on their livelihoods

To protest the sealing drive, most major markets of the national capital remained closed today as traders downed shutters in solidarity.

As part of protest itself, a large number of traders, their family members and employees gathered at the Ramlila grounds.

They participated in a mega rally as they are alleging it to be an attack on their livelihoods.

Praveen Khandelwal, general secretary of Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), announced that thousands have participated and almost all of the markets of the city remained closed.

Some of the prominent markets that remained closed included Sadar Bazar, Lajpat Nagar, Chandni Chowk, Karol Bagh and Chawri Bazar.

Almost all of the political parties have been voicing their support to moratorium on sealing.
