After a five-year courtship, popular Malayalam actress Bhavana Menon tied the knot with Kannada film producer Naveen, at a temple on Monday. The wedding was attended by only close relatives and friends of the couple. The ceremonies were conducted as per Kerala Hindu traditions. Over 100 police officers were posted to restrict intrusion by fans.
After the simple ceremony, the two drove to an auditorium where a feast was arranged. Later in the evening, a special reception would be held for the couple’s friends from the south Indian film industry.
Decked in a golden saree, traditional jewellery and a gajra around her hair bun, Bhavana made for one beautiful bride.
Bhavana got engaged to her beau in a close-knit ceremony in Kochi. The news of their engagement was confirmed by the starlet’s brother on social media. ‘With our father’s blessings and his mother’s blessings from heavens, it’s official that she got engaged. Marriage date isn’t fixed yet, hopefully, we will do it late this year. Forgive us for not informing you, it was a closed ceremony, but leaks do happen and sorry that you had to know this way. We hope to have your continuous support and blessings for the times to come,” he had written.
In an interview with a South Indian channel, Bhavana had admitted to dating the producer. “Yes, I am in a relationship, a serious relationship. We were planning to get married in 2014, but it didn’t happen due to my prior commitments. I always wanted to be with a person who looks his life in a very matured manner,” the actress had said.
Bhavana had made her debut as an actress at the age of 16 in 2001 movie Nammal. Though it was a supporting role, she made a great impression in her first role itself getting a Special Mention at the Kerala State Film Awards the next year. Her first proper female lead role was in CID Moosa, opposite Dileep. Her popular roles thereafter include Swapnakoodu, Daiva Namathil (for which she won Best Actress award at KSF), Twenty: 20, Naran, Chotta Mumbai, Doctor Love. She also tried her luck in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada movies. Her last screen appearance was in this year’s Malayalam movie Adam Joan, where she played Prithviraj’s sister-in-law.
Born as Karthika Menon, Bhavana took her screen name about 15 years ago when she made her debut. The 31-year-old actress is hugely popular in the south Indian film circuit. It was while shooting for a Kannada movie that Bhavana met Naveen, an actor himself, and they dated for quite a few years before officially announcing their engagement on March 9.>
