After it emerged that the public sector banks have written off almost Rs 2.41 lakh crore worth of loans between April 2014 and September 2017, the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has demanded that central government makes public its list of defaulters.
The loans written off are said to have been given to the corporate bodies in this tenure.
It need be mentioned that the central government has so far avoided disclosing the details in this regard.
Mamata Banerjee, in a Facebook post, demanded immediate disclosure of the list of these defaulters whose loans have been written off.
She posted, “Why is this confidentiality? Whom is the Government trying to protect?” Mamata said. “We demand immediate disclosure of the complete list of defaulters of public sector banks, whose loans have been written off. Is it not a big, big, big scam ?”
Mamata Banerjee expressed shock as the BJP-led central government did not consider the farmers appeal to waive their loans despite reports of suicide by peasants who failed to pay their debts.
She also asked if this is not a big scam??>
